TRAINING: General/Civil Mediation is the foundational course. It is twenty-eight (28) hours spread out over four (4) days covering the entire mediation process,the importance of communication, conflict resolution, and negotiation skills to the mediator, ethics, the role of diversity, the court process and marketing your practice. The course is complimented and completed with role plays.

PRACTICUM:The 12 hour practicum replaces the need to observe cases through the court. Participants observe a live role play with experienced mediators and watch 4 videos of different mediation scenarios. The instructor helps participants to understand the strengths and weaknesses displayed and how they can improve their own style of mediation.

TIMES: The class runs from 8:30 am to 6:00pm each day with a break in both the morning and the afternoon. There is also a lunch break of one hour. Particpants must be present for the entire course to receive their certificates.

COST: Training alone is $899.00. Practicum alone is $325.00. Beginning the fall of 2010, the combination price will increase to $1109.00.

All courses are approved by the GODR.

The fact that a training program has been approved by the Georgia Office of Dispute does not imply that any particular court-annexed or court referred program must or will accept as neutrals those who have completed that program.  Each local court program is expected to exercise its discretion with reference to the qualifications of each neutral and may inquire into the training received by such neutral.  Completion of a state-approved program does not automatically qualify one as a neutral in any particular local program.
