What does the mediator do?

The mediator is a neutral person that helps sort through the issues when a grievance is filed to create options for resolving the conflict. The goal is to get everyone back to a productive work environment.

How do I prepare for mediation?

Although Mediators do not consider evidence or evaluate financial records, it could be important for you to bring this type of information to assist the other party in understanding your issues.

Be familiar with and bring a copy of your workplace handbook and employment contract.

Bring any other documents that might assist in demonstrating your perspective to the issues.

Think about what you need, want, desire and might be concerned about. Be prepared to offer an idea that can lead to a solution.
